NHHELCO

New Hampshire Higher Education Loan Corporation (NHHELCO) was designated by the State of New Hampshire in June of 1993 to be a lender and holder exclusively for student loans. NHHELCO grew out of recognition that demand for student loans and a declining number of active lenders created a need for a loan corporation dedicated exclusively to funding education loans. All loans originated by NHHELCO are guaranteed by NHHEAF and serviced by GSM&R. NHHELCO espouses the importance of life-of-loan servicing and makes every effort not to sell the loans they hold. The Organizations' singular purpose is to meet the college funding needs of New Hampshire students and families. Therefore, the organization markets primarily to New Hampshire residents. The long history of providing excellent, local service to our citizens has led to consistently sustaining the greatest market share of FFEL volume in New Hampshire. For fiscal year 2009, NHHELCO funded FFEL loans for about 32,000 borrowers totaling $144 million.
